The Youth Servant Leader Program (YSL) prepares youth to be servant leaders at camp, at church, and in their communities. By training YSLs to become servant leaders by following the example set by Christ, high school and college-bound youth can understand what servant leadership truly means. Upon completion of a week training session, YSLs will then have the opportunity to put newly learned skills into practice by volunteering to assist a counselor and cabin group during a week-long camp session. During their week of service, YSLs are responsible for assisting counselors with their duties, organizing and leading various camp games, and being a friend and role model to the campers.
All YSL applicants must have completed their freshman year of high school prior to training. Graduated high school seniors (college-bound freshman) are eligible to apply as well.
YSLs have an opportunity to share their faith with campers, counselors, and other YSLs. Camp Omega's outdoor setting offers YSLs the chance to share Jesus love while participating in all of camp’s activities. Room and board are included during the YSL's volunteer week.
Camp Omega offers a week long training session. All YSLs must go through training proir to volunteering, even if they have volunteered during past summers. Training sessions are led by experienced program staff and counselors.
