Coronavirus (COVID 19)

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Ps. 46:1)

The reality of the coronavirus (COVID-19) is affecting our state and country, and we at Camp Omega are keeping up to date with news reports and government recommendations. As your outdoor ministry leaders, we want to reassure you that nothing is more important than the health, safety, and well-being of our campers, their parents, our adult leaders, our summer and full-time staff, and those who are a part of the Camp Omega community. On Monday, March 16, MN Governor Tim Walz issued Executive Order 20-04 which closes all places of public accommodations offering food or beverages for on-premises consumption effective March 17, 2020. Therefore, Camp Omega is closed for guest services through April 13th. All events after that date are still on schedule. This of course is subject to change.

We wanted especially to address the concerns of our summer camper parents and adult leaders and assure them that they will receive a full refund if we do have to make adjustments to our summer camp schedule (including but not limited to delaying the start of camp, canceling certain weeks of camp, or shortening our summer camp season). We hope to have a better idea of what this will look like as we begin our summer camp season with guide training in late May.

The evolving nature of this event requires us to be flexible in how we respond and provide service to you.  We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation as we move closer to summer.

In the mean time, we advise our all our program participants and guest groups of the following:

  1. People age 60 and older and those who are considered high risk are advised to avoid large gatherings and practice social distancing.
  2. Those who have concerns about being in group settings or their ability to practice social distancing at camp should consider not attending a camp retreat or event.
  3. Those who are sick with cold or flu symptoms, and those who may have been exposed to coronavirus or influenza, should not attend a camp retreat or event.

Camp Omega will continue its current regimen of regular cleaning and disinfecting of high-touch areas. Guests who choose to not attend a program or retreat will be offered an opportunity to rebook at a later date.

Please do not hesitate to contact our camp office at 507.685.4266 with questions or concerns. And remember that our Lord Jesus Christ reigns! – Bob LaCroix, Executive Director
