Dear Camp Omega Community,
Uncertainty and confusion have gripped the hearts of many the past few months. Thankfully, we serve the God of truth and certainty, who with perfect love casts out fear. Even with this truth in mind, uncertainty about how this pandemic may impact Camp Omega’s summer programming has gripped us all.
The Camp Omega Board of Directors and staff have developed a plan of action to address this uncertainty. This plan implements the mission of camp and its life-changing impact while adhering to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the MN Department of Health (MNDH), the American Camp Association (ACA), local health authorities, and the Minnesota State authorities guidelines. Our desire is to offer as much camp programming as is safe and reasonable under the circumstances.
Camper and guest care is at the forefront of our consideration. Our desire is to be part of the solution and strive for the safety—physical, emotional, and spiritual—of everyone who visits. With this in mind, the Camp Omega Board of Directors and staff have determined that summer camp programming for youth, children, and developmentally disabled campers is cancelled through the remainder of the summer. All Family Camps and Parent and Child Camps are proceeding as scheduled. Programs will be modified to fit the social distancing and safety requirements of the state of Minnesota and the CDC. In addition, all Traveling Day Camp programs to congregations are cancelled.
Camp Omega is inviting family groups to rent a cabin, outpost area, tent, or bring a self-contained RV to camp and participate as desired in a family camp programming.
This decision was not easy and was only reached after much prayer, conversation, and consultation. The following programs and events will be affected by the change in summer planning:
- Camp Omega Day
- Work Weekend
- Youth Camp
- Camp for the Developmentally Disabled
- Youth Servant Leader Training and Programming
- Off-Site Day Camp
If you are affected by these cancellations, please refer to the Refund Options & Process.
So Now What?
This does not mean the end of camp ministry this summer! The Camp Omega staff has created plans to implement virtual access to camp including camp songs, videos, games, crafts, Bible studies, and more. Families are also welcome to take advantage of Family Camp Programming options.
In addition, a list of Checkpoints and Action Plans at which future decision has been developed.
God’s got this! He always has and He always will. We know that His work is being done. We praise God for all the good work He has done through the staff, volunteers, and campers of Camp Omega. The community God has built through camp is inspiring and powerful. This community will stand firm as a family through all the uncertainty caused by the pandemic.
Stay safe, stay healthy, look out for your neighbor, and trust Jesus,
Your Friends at Camp Omega
